Giving back to the Society
Le Shepherd Education Centre believes in giving back to the society. This lead to the idea of carrying out charity events to better contribute to the society and teach students that importance of social contributions. Therefore in Dec 2007, more than a year after Le Shepherd Education Centre’s set up, we decided to work with YMCA to start our first mini event in the centre. Although it was our first time, but with the leadership of our representative, Nick Lie Dai Cheng, it was a success with the Open House 2008.

Portals 2008 - Charity Event in collaboration with YMCA
Following the successful event, Nick went on to build a volunteer group in both TJC and Anglican High School. He was successful in garnering a larger group of student volunteers from both uniform group and other CCAs to create a larger event called Portals 2008 held at Tampines Mall. With the lead of Nick and the advice from Co-Founders of Le Shepherd Education Centre, this event was another success and we are please to help the beneficiaries of YMCA.

Le Shepherd Flea Market 2008
During Dec 2008, we went on to have a mini Flea Market at Le Shepherd Education Centre and we self-donated a part of the earnings to YMCA. This was an unofficial event, but everyone had great fun with teachers and students selling items. There was great response for the whole of 2 weekends with parents and outsiders flowing in to purchase the item they liked.

Eclipse 2009 - Charity Event in collaboration with YMCA
The latest event was held in Tampines and not only are there balloon sculpting, which was one of our main key items, but also other items for sale and mini game booths for children to play. The purpose of such charitable events such as Portals 2008 is to bring about the importance of contributing to the society and to teach the students event management and organisation. We are pleased that this event was a huge success!

We will get you posted on more upcoming events that we are collaborating with various charity organisations and was great to have a very committed guy like Nick to work with us. We are very proud for him to be the Director of Social Enterprise for Uni-Y SMU and look forward to future events.
